“Rodeo Chic” at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
Rodeo Season is officially in full swing! Not sure what to wear to a rodeo? Our TCU college ambassador, Claire Francques has you covered.
From high-energy riding events, world-class livestock shows, and the vibrant Midway carnival, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo offers something for everyone.
Since 1896, this iconic stock show & rodeo has brought in crowds to celebrate competitors and the spirit of Cowtown. Rodeo season sets the stage for attendees to dress up their western wear, which has been on the rise outside of the arena in recent years.
Pop culture has played a pivotal role in bringing attention to what Vogue editors are calling “Rodeo Chic.” Shows like Yellowstone and Land Man, along with celebrities like Bella Hadid, have added to the appeal of western style. Bella, who grew up riding horses, is now dating Adan Banuelos, an inductee of the National Cutting Horse Association Riders Hall of Fame (NCHA). Bella is the perfect visual of “rodeo chic,” seamlessly blending practical western wear with designer fashion.
Brands are increasingly drawing inspiration from rodeo culture, incorporating elements from statement belts, western boots, and denim jackets. According to a recent article in Vogue, western fashion is characterized by its “bold colors, intricate embroidery, and the use of materials like leather and denim, which are both durable and stylish.”
As the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo continues to honor its rich history, it also is a platform for evolving rodeo fashion. Whether in the arena or on the runway, western style will always remain timeless.
